Beverly loves assisting mothers and partners in the birth process and in
meeting their postpartum needs. She has been present for many births,
including the births of her eight grandchildren, which includes 3 home
births. Beverly is DONA trained and finishing her certification. She is also
trained in the ICEA childbirth curriculum. She recently retired from her full
time job to devote more time to her first love-assisting mothers in the birth
process and in the care of newborns.

Doulananda Birth Services is comprised of 5 committed and compassionate
birth and post-partum doulas serving women in the greater Jacksonville and
St. Augustine area. We believe that a "normal" and even blissful birth is
our birthright. We offer doula services for miscarriages, home birth,
hospital births, medicalized births and even support for c-sections. We
believe in supporting mom in whatever decision she makes, in order for her
to experience her desired birth. A collaborative of 5 doula's means there is
always a supportive back-up doula. The founder, Melissa Johnson, teaches
HypnoBirthing™ The Mongan Method at several locations in Jacksonville and
St. Augustine and will be attending The Farm's Midwifery Assistant's program
in the spring of 2011. All of our doulas are certifying through DONA and
able provide support to HypnoBirthing™ moms.

different birth experiences with each one. I also have attended births at hospitals, birthing

Janet weaves four disciplines of nursing, childbirth education, counseling and doula into a
supportive web that embraces the birthing family. Forty years ago as a student nurse she
recognized the profound effect that birth has on women and their families. Since that time,
she has added her experiences as an ICEA certified childbirth educator and DONA doula to her
Masters in Christian Psychology to create a special network of skills to assist the birthing
woman. Janet says her goal is "for women to achieve a positive birth experience that will
be considered a highlight of their life."

Cecilia brings a passion for natural birth, healthy pregnancy and breastfeeding to her work in the greater
Jacksonville area. She teaches classes on The Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth and is a DONA-trained birth
doula and CAPPA-trained breastfeeding educator. She has been a 'student of birth' since her own first pregnancy
many years ago and has an absolute trust in a woman's ability to give birth the way nature intended. Cecilia
supports her clients in creating the birth they envision for themselves and provides them with comprehensive information to facilitate truly informed choices, whether they ultimately choose midwifery care, obstetrical
care, hospital, birth center or home birth. She also has a particular passion for supporting working mothers
in breastfeeding for as long as they and their babies want to do so. Cecilia has two natural-birthed children
and feels privileged to have attended the births of her two grandchildren, the last one a waterbirth at a
freestanding birth center.

assisting women in birth for over 8 years. I've also been a Physical Therapist Assistant
for 8 years who believes in educating pregnant women about proper body mechanics and

Tera Smith has over 17 years experience assisting woman in there unique birth choices.
Tera is the mother of five children all of which were born unmedicated and without
interventions of any type. Her last birth was a WaterBirth at Kenner Regional Hospital
in New Orleans. Tera is a proud La Leche League Leader and founder of ICAN
(International Cesarean Awareness Network) in the state of Louisiana. In order
to pursue her career in midwifery, Tera recently relocated to Amelia Island FL,
where she continues to offer doula services and classes while she studies.

Zeresh is a mother, wife, certified doula and hypno-doula, childbirth educator, and counselor. From
her own birth experience, and from speaking with other women and men she realized how

empower mothers and fathers on their journey to childbirth and parenthood. Zeresh's

Volunteer Doulas

attend births for certification. These doulas will donate their time for the births that they need for
certification which includes a prenatal visit, your labor and birth, and a postpartum visit.
